The owner of a upscale women's clothing factory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn 68, has been charged and found guilty
He is accused of arson in setting fires in 1989 to fraudulently obtain $9 million from insurance firms, and in another scheme, to cheat creditors out of $2.5 million.
Under federal guidelines, he faces a mandatory prison sentence of 10 years for conviction on the use of arson in commission of a felony. When fraud and money laundering counts are included, he could also face between 235 to 293 months in prison. U.S. District Court Judge Arthur Spatt ordered him held without bail, saying he was a flight risk because of the prison sentence.
