Williamsburg - Reversal Of Landmark Status At 184 Kent Avenue Advances
City Council committee voted yesterday to reverse a decision by the Landmarks Preservation Commission.
The Council acted to reverse the designation of landmark status for the Austin, Nichols & Company Warehouse, a 1915 building at 184 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The owner wants to change the facade.
A vote by the full Council is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today.

By a vote of 43 to 6, the New York City Council rejected the Landmark Preservation Commission's decision to protect a historic building located on the Williamsburg waterfront. It was only the fifth time in the last 15 years that the council has overruled the agency.
"This is a piece of trash. We should knock it down and put something nice up." Councilmember Simcha Felder said.
