Ramapo - Yeshiva Development Begins

Ramapo - Nearly a decade since a yeshiva with student housing was proposed on Grandview Avenue on the former military housing complex, workers start clearing the space for a construction trailer.

The appearance of earth-moving equipment concerned some nearby residents.

At this point, Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim has cleared space for a trailer to be used by engineers and other construction supervisors.

In June, a state Supreme Court Justice permitted two residents to continue their lawsuit opposing the construction. That could have blocked work at the site, but the yeshiva was free to begin the nearly $8.4 million project at its own risk pending the outcome of the lawsuit.
