More E-ZPass Lanes For NY Thruway
New York - The state plans to add more E-ZPass lanes on the Thruway -- including several high-speed lanes, by the end of this summer.
The Thruway Authority will add 36 new E-ZPass lanes to the highway system as part of a three-and-a-half million dollar improvement project expected to be completed in six months.
The plan includes increasing the number of lanes that will accommodate high-speed E-ZPass traffic. The speed limit for most regular E-ZPass lanes is five miles an hour, and High-speed E-ZPass lanes allow motorists to pass through at 20 miles an hour.
