Monsey, NY - Two Charged In Alcohol Sting
Monsey, NY - Two clerks were charged after police, in conjunction with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, checked Monsey stores for compliance with state alcoholic beverage laws.
A 26-year-old Monsey man, employed by Grapevines Fine Wines & Spirits on Route 306, and a 20-year-old Spring Valley man, employed by Saddle River Deli on Saddle River Road, were each charged with prohibited sale of alcohol to a minor, a violation.
When an undercover 16-year-old tried to buy alcohol without identification at Grapevines, the clerk brought the flask of vodka outside, Sgt. Robert Lancia said. Both stores will be referred to the state Liquor Authority.
The Society says they will do more undercover operations like this.
