Williamsburg, Brooklyn - NYPD Gearing Up For Rebbe's Sons Dueling Services

Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY - NYPD Cops are boosting manpower in Brooklyn as they brace for a Shabbas showdown at sundown today between followers of the late Grand Rebbe Moses Teitelbaum's feuding sons.

The two sons of the late grand rebbe, who died Monday, are both claiming to be their father's successor as religious leader of the 120,000-member Satmar sect.
Zalmen Teitelbaum, leader of a sect in Williamsburg, and Aron Teitelbaum, leader of a sect in Orange County, are planning to hold dueling Shabbas services at sundown in Williamsburg.

Aron Teitelbaum's followers have erected a tent in a playground at Lee Ave. and Taylor St., just 2-1/2 blocks from his brother's synagogue. "We're expecting a huge crowd, coming to wish Grand Rebbe Aron the best," said Rabbi Moshe Indig, a Satmar community leader and follower of Aron Teitelbaum, 57.
Zalmen Teitelbaum, 53, also will be holding Shabbas services for the first time since a rabbinical court deemed him grand rebbe, in accordance with his father's will.

Satmar member Abraham Berkaur of Williamsburg was praying for a peaceful Sabbath - even though both factions have brawled before, most recently at the grand rebbe's funeral early Tuesday.
"Usually Jews are together. It's against our tradition and Jewish law to fight," said Berkaur, a follower of Zalmen Teitelbaum. "The whole situation is bad."
Berkaur said some children are afraid to come out of their houses.
"It's very frightening," Berkaur said. "He [Aron Teitelbaum] is coming here with force and that's not the way to do it."

I have a good idea let the brother that losses become the rebbe of Lubavitch. They are in need of a rebbe.

This is truly unbelievable. Evidently, the Satmar succession squabble has gotten so heated, that one of the warring factions will do anything to win, including invite Chillul Shabbat in exchange for some positive PR. From a press release issued to reporters by the Aronis, inviting reporters to "attend Shabbos worship services led by Grand Rabbi Aron Teitelbaum" (who was not named in his father's will as the successor for Grand Rabbi - but is contesting that):

Grand Rabbi Aron, the oldest son of Rabbi Moses Teitelbaum obm, arrived in Williamsburg, Wednesday (April 26) and, as the new Grand Rabbi, plans to reside there. Grand Rabbi Aaron's highly skilled qualifications and credentials as a speaker and charismatic person and as a dean and a rabbi who served Satmar in many positions for so many years make him well-qualified to serve as Grand Rabbi.
The best line from the release:

SPECIAL NOTE: Please be respectful of the religious observances and practices.

How taking "stills" and "prints" of Chasidim partaking in Shabbos meals is "respectful of religious observances and practices" is beyond me.

Can someone explain to me how getting PR for eating shabbos meals together in a giant tent in Williamsburg into non-Jewish papers will help the Aronis win the succession war???? Why exactly did they hire a PR person?? This is beyond bizarre. Did the Zalmis hire a PR person also??

Yes, I will explain it with one line.
    Don't believe everything you read!!
who said they invited the media?
both sides are bashing the other sides with lies and untrue facts.
so don't get so excited man..

to the anon who wants to know why both sides have hired PR firms. The reason is very simple. At the end of the day their both going to be rebbes. The real question is who is going to get the schools, shul and all the real estae. That will be dicied by the courts. Right know the issue is beforethe Appealte court and their going to issue a ruling on it. Now the judges on that court read the papers, watch tv, ect. When Richard Schwartz (R' Zalmen's main pr spokesman) is quoted in the papers and on tv saying that all the sopposed reasons why the rebbe is supposed to be zalmen, the judges see that and it makes an impression. Trust me, I'm alitigator and we do it all the time. The same is true for R' Aron's PR guy. (i cant remember his name.
So by issuing a press report and now reporters will come on shabbos take pictures and put it in their papers. The judges are going to see that and IT MAKES A BIG IMPRESSION. At the end of the day lets face it. Thers gonna be 2 rebbes. The only question is who gets the $$$$ (buildings).

And i'll add on to that by saying that it's probably going to be a 50/50 split or maybe 60/40, but not more than that.
