White Plains, NY - Wal-Mart Set to Take on New York Kosher Market
White Plains, NY - Buoyed by its success in Upstate New York, Wal-Mart is preparing to take on the large New York kosher market with the opening of its new White Plains store.
The store is opening in a former Sears department store located on one of the city's busiest downtown streets. It aims to lure locals as well as customers from around New York City and Westchester County with the largest food assortment outside a so-called superstore and an array of products for small apartments.
Sources say that the chain hopes to emulate its large kosher section in Monticello, NY in the hope of attracting kosher consumers from throughout the metropolitan area.

They do have a pretty decent meat / poultry section in Monticello.
However, I've never heard that White Plains has a particularly noticeable frum community.
Somehow, though, I just don't envision any heimishe traveling (by car-service?) to Westchester to do their grocery shopping.
