Israel - Tel Aviv Residents Fight Less Than Others In IDF
The head of IDF Manpower said that questions must be asked concerning the geographical disparity concerning serving in combat units. When asked if he was referring to Tel Aviv, Stern replied he makes it a practice not to visit homes there.
Media attention often has focused on the lack of enlistment among Charedi religious sectors in Jerusalem and B'nai Brak but largely ignore a high rate of draft dodgers from the Tel Aviv area and from secular sectors.
Among those who have not served in the army are the sons of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
