Nothing Found In Suspicous Long Beach Package

    September 11, 2006, 10:26 AM PDT

A suspicious package found in a rental car has been detonated at Long Beach Airport and no explosive was found. Flights that had been disrupted are now back in business.

Earlier, while authorities at the airport were investigating the package, people traveling to the airport were being kept away from the terminal, an airport spokeswoman said.

The terminal is located across from the car rental lot where the suspicious package was found about 8:30 a.m., airport spokeswoman Sharon Diggs-Jackson said.

The terminal was not evacuated, but people arriving at the facility were being held at the entrance to the airport, Diggs-Jackson said.

Arrivals were not affected, but departures were held, she said. About eight departing airplanes were delayed, she said.
