Community Activist: New Twist Raises Questions About Deadly Passover Blaze, But The Fire Department Rebuffs That.
On Tuesday a Community Spokesman threw into question speculation that an apartment fire that claimed the lives of three Orthodox Jewish boys was started by a stove left burning for three days for religious reasons.
The Jewish community claims that the FD didn't respond fast enough to save the lives of this children. He also said that a nurse, who lives across the hall from the family, turned off the stove Saturday night. The fire erupted early Monday.
But the Fire Department said that the source of the fire was consistent with a lighted stove, and they did interview on Monday a home attendant that told them that on instructions from the family, she had left the burner on.
