Kiryas Yoel, MonDroe developers reach sewer deal.
Orange County and three Kiryas Yoel developers have settled a longstanding sewer dispute about illegal sewer hookups in the village, that came to a head last month with the County Executive
The builders reluctantly agreed in the beginning to pay for a sewer pipeline but then demanded the county reimburse them when the work was almost done. They said it had cost $750,000 to $1 million. but the county refused.
Under the agreement, the developers – Irene Developers, Forest Enterprises and Hakiryah Affordable Housing – will give the county the new sewer main and drop their demand to be reimbursed. They will pay a $5,000 penalty and must pay $15,000 more if they violate terms of the deal.
