Monsey - A Club's Demise Could Spur Downtown Revitalization
Monsey - The closing of a club whose owners battled Ramapo officials and the heavily Orthodox Jewish residents for years, is seen as an opportunity to revitalize the Route 59-Route 306 area.
Since the club closed, the town has been moving forward with plans to revitalize the busy stretch with mixed-use development, Town Supervisor said.
The plan to revitalize includes, A three-story mixed-use development with retail stores, office space and apartments. A $900,000 pedestrian walkway starting at Monsey Glen County Park, going underneath Route 59, crossing Route 306 and ending at Robert Pitt Drive. An 82-unit housing development on a 5-acre site. New sidewalks, curbs, plants and lights on Requa Lane.
