Newport, RI. - Touro Synagogue Gets Gift To Restore Building
Newport, R.I.- The oldest synagogue in the country has received an important donation.
The gift gives the Touro Synagogue in Newport the two-point-eight million dollars it needs to restore the building.The donation came recently from the family of David Bazarsky, a former president at the synagogue.The amount of the gift is not being disclosed.The synagogue is still raising money for a larger ten (m) million dollar campaign that calls for creating a visitors center and education center.The Touro Synagogue was decicated in 1763 and is a major Rhode Island attraction.
