NYC Correction Officer Arrested After Refusing Parking Ticket

Yorktown, N.Y. - A New York City correction officer was arrested after he refused to acknowledge a parking ticket being written by a city environmental police officer.
An officer with the New York City DEP was
writing tickets for cars parked in a fire lane at the Yorktown Green Shopping center in Yorktown Heights when Kyle Ryan, 36, who lives in Orange County, questioned the DEP officer's authority to write parking tickets, and flashed his correction officer's badge and walked away.
When the DEP officer was writing a ticket for his car, Ryan got in his car, drove away and was chased onto the Taconic State Parkway. NY State Police got involved in the chase, which ended in Putnam County.
Ryan was charged with reckless driving, reckless endangerment, obstructing governmental administration and official misconduct. He's been suspended from his correction officer job.
DEP spokesman said that the DEP police can issue tickets anywhere in the city watershed.
