Brooklyn, NY - Grande Rebbe Of Satmar's Condition Deteriorating
Brooklyn, NY - The Satmar Grand Rebbe is said to be in deteriorating condition at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, setting off calls for prayers.
Rabbi Moses Teitelbaum’s health worsened in recent weeks after a stroke and when doctors found a tumor in his spine, as well as he got an infection apparently caused by radiation treatment, and failure of his one remaining kidney. According to sources, the 91-year-old spiritual leader has lost and regained consciousness and been placed on a ventilator to assist his breathing.
The Rabbis family has rushed to the Upper East Side Hospital, including his feuding sons, Aaron and Zalmen Teitelbaum, who are both at their father's bedside, facing each other for the first time in several years. The Israeli National News service has reported that the rebbe’s aides have asked Jews worldwide to recite psalms from the bible on behalf of The Rabbi.
Kiryas Joel, Monroe, NY, leaders met with state police and spoke with Monroe-Woodbury school officials, Orange & Rockland Utilities Inc. and other entities that might be affected in the event of a funeral.
