Girl, 4, dies after TV falls on her
A 4-year-old Brooklyn girl died of severe head injuries last night after a television fell on her, cops said.
Little Debbie Lerner, unconscious and badly bleeding, was rushed to Lutheran Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 7:15 p.m.
Police said the girl's father, Leo, had called 911 about 45 minutes earlier to say that his daughter had been injured in their home on Avenue M in Ocean Parkway.
The father told investigators he was in the kitchen with Debbie's twin brother when he heard "a loud bang," said police spokeswoman Detective Theresa Farello.
The dad ran into the room where Debbie was with her 2-year-old sister and found the television "wedged on" the child's head, Farello said.
The 27-inch television apparently fell from a metal stand with wheels, cops said.
Both police and the Administration for Children's Services were investigating the incident.
The father told cops he was watching the three kids while their mom was at work.
Neighbors said the anguished father, covered in his daughter's blood, ran outside with the girl in his arms and yelled for help.

I couldn't agree more with 12:45.
Unfortunately this is the rule rather than the exception on this blog.

the webbrebbe comment should be removed by the blog administrator. That is not censorship, it's common decency and sensitivity.

In the nytimes there was an article about the story in the metro section in which it said that no charges were brought against the father. You cannot arrest someone without pressing charges.
