MONSEY — A Monsey man remained in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla yesterday after being struck by a minivan.
Jacob Grohman, 29, was hit by a 1997 Chevrolet Venture at about 10:23 p.m. Saturday as he crossed Route 306 near Maple Avenue, Ramapo Police Sgt. Mark Briggs said yesterday.
"(Grohman) was not in the crosswalk, and the area where he was was rather dark," Briggs said.
Police believe the cause of the accident was pedestrian error.
Oleg Zuts of Monsey, who was driving the Venture for a Monsey car service called Zirs Services Inc., has not been charged, and he was not injured.
Grohman suffered serious head injuries and initially was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern. He was later transferred to Westchester Medical Center, Briggs said.
