Albany, NY - Pataki aide charged with DWI
Albany, NY - A press spokesman for Republican Gov. George Pataki was charged with driving while intoxicated Thursday night after Albany police accused him of hitting a parked car and driving off.
Joseph Conway, 40, was driving in Albany when witnesses saw him rear-end a parked car, police said. The witnesses followed Conway's car and called police, who said they soon found Conway sitting in his car parked at an intersection. Albany Police Detective James Miller said Conway had "glassy eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath," when the officers found him. Conway then failed a field sobriety test and later failed a Breathalyzer exam at the police station.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Conway was arraigned this morning in Albany City Criminal Court and released.
