East Ramapo, NY - School District Polls Stayed Open Late To Accommodate Voters Celebrating The Holiday Of Lag B'Omer

East Ramapo, NY - School district voters approved 2006-07 budgets in seven of the public school district of East Ramapo and ousted a veteran trustee in the voting.

The usually contentious East Ramapo budget vote and school board races seemed calmer this year, with voters approving a $178.79 million budget. But voters ousted veteran trustee Christian Sampson, who was soundly defeated by newcomer Akiva Feinsod. Another newcomer, Soloman Akerman, won a three-way race for an open seat. Trustee Richard Stone won another term by defeating Suzanne Young-Mercer.
Final results on the budget and school board races came in after midnight as polls closed at 11:30 p.m. The East Ramapo polls stayed open late to accommodate voters celebrating a Jewish holiday of Lag B'Omer.
