Hatzolah Collides With Off-Duty NYPD Officer
Monroe, NY - A Hatzollah member rushing to Arden Hill Medical Center, ran a red light and collided with a Honda driven by an off-duty New York City cop yesterday afternoon as reported at that time on VOS IZ NEIAS.
The city cop, 42-year-old Mayra Liciaga, was turning left to get on Route 17 east at Exit 130. The Hatzolah member, driving an unmarked minivan but with flashing red lights on the dash and grill and EMT plates, went around traffic and through the red light at the intersection with Route 208, striking Liciaga's Accord on the passenger side and spinning it around, minor injuries were reported.
The Hatzolah member, Shloima Schvimmer, 36, was transporting the grandmother of a 4-year-old child to Arden Hill. The child, who was taken to the hospital for an allergic reaction, was in a separate ambulance.
State police have issued no tickets, but are determining whether Schvimmer should have been driving in an emergency manner.
