Orange County, NY - To Cut Gas Sales Tax
Orange County, NY - The Ways and Means Committee of the Orange County Legislature gave its approval to a plan to cap the local sales tax on gasoline when the fuel reaches $2 per gallon.
County Legislature Democratic Minority Leader Anthony Marino said county consumers will save some change with the plan. “In effect, it’s going to translate into, hopefully, maybe eight to 10 cents a gallon savings for them, in addition to whatever they are going to get from the state doing the same thing.
The Orange County cap, once approved by the full legislature, would be in effect for only five months, starting in July.
