Brooklyn, NY - Tenants Getting Rental Assistance Arrested for Fraud
Brooklyn, NY - Five tenants getting rental help have been arrested for fraud. Four of the tenants live in buildings owned by the New York City Housing Authority and one other is getting Section Eight assistance from the federal government. Some of the tenants lived in the Williamsburg sections of Brooklyn.
The commissioner of the Department of Investigation said, nearly 70-thousand dollars in rent was stolen by the five tenants, and the crackdown on rent fraud has resulted in 434 arrests since 1995.
They've been charged with grand larceny and filing a false instrument.
