Uzbekistan - Arrest Made In Uzbek Jewish Murders
Uzbek - Police in Uzbekistan arrested a man suspected of killing a Jewish family.
The 27-year-old man, whose name police have not released, has reportedly confessed to the June 15 robbery and killing of Karina Loifer and her mother, Svetlana. The two women were found strangled in their apartment in the city of Tashkent as reported by VOS IZ NEIAS.
The killing alarmed the Jewish community because Karina Loifer, 20, was the secretary to the country’s chief rabbi.
Jewish leaders in Uzbekistan have said they do not believe the killing was motivated by anti-Semitism. Police have reportedly recovered some articles that previously belonged to the Loifer family in the suspect’s home.
