Baku, Azerbaijan - Celebrates The Opening Of A New Mikva
Baku, Azerbaijan - The head of the Jewish Community of Azerbaijan and Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi of Azerbaijan Meir Brook celebrated the opening of a new mikva.
The inauguration ceremony involved more than 50 members of Azerbaijani Jewish communities, who were excited to see the new mikva.
The mikva is laid with beautiful tiles the same color as the marble interior of the building. The mikva has two pools connected with each other, separate shower rooms located adjacent to the ritual bath hall, a heating system and a special filtration system, designed for purifying rain water.
Addressing to the community members, Rabbi Brook reminded them that the ritual bath is essential for observing the laws of the family purity. "These laws are so important that a community is required build a mikva even before building a synagogue. And now we are proud to announce that Jews of Baku have both a new synagogue and a new mikva!"
