Monticello, NY - Police are investigating a larceny of money and lottery tickets from the Raceway Exxon gas station on Raceway Road and Jefferson Street in the Village of Monticello.

The clerk at the station had left the counter unattended while checking on a gas pump outside. When he returned inside, he noticed that approximately $8,160 in cash and several lottery tickets had been stolen from behind the counter.

Police are looking to interview a possible suspect who was in the store when the clerk had gone outside. The suspect is described as a white male, 50 to 60 years of age, with gray hair and driving a gray Chevrolet conversion van. An investigation is continuing.
