Rockland County, NY - Relief At The Gas Pump For Some Nonprofits Agencies

Rockland County, NY - Some not-for-profit agencies feeling the pain of high gasoline prices might soon be paying less at the pump.

Eligible nonprofits would be able to buy gas for vehicles they own and operate from county government at wholesale prices — $2.58 for a gallon of regular grade gasoline as of Aug. 3 — plus a 51-cent administrative fee, together, they would bring the total price to $3.09 per gallon.
County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef must still sign the measure for it to become law. His office said he needs to review it.

Only nonprofit organizations that receive funding from the county and use their vehicles to perform services would be able to buy gas from the county at fueling stations in Ramapo and New City.
Nonprofits such as the Monsey Fire District, Spring Hill Ambulance Corps and Bikur Cholim, a Monsey health-service agency, and several Ramapo villages have benefited from the arrangement over the years.
