Waterford, MI - Anti-Semitic Vandals Target Clinic

Waterford, MI - Jeffrey Klein struggles to tell his 10-year-old son, Sruli, the violent truth of the Holocaust. And he'll have to gently tell Sruli of the ignorance that still exists today - after harsh, black spray-painted lines in the form of anti-Semitic and sacrilegious signs were plastered across the back of his podiatry practice in Waterford Township.

Klein said he hopes police find whoever did this, but he doesn't yet understand the hate behind the swastika, profanity, upside-down cross, 666 and hammer and sickle. "I feel terrorized, frightened, amazed. ... I try to be the best person I can, and you see this and wonder what kind of people are out there," said Klein, a physician at Advanced Podiatry Clinic, 3711 Elizabeth Lake Road.
"For my son to see this, it's unbelievable."
Klein, 45, of Oak Park, discovered the vandalism on the brick building. He filed a report with the Waterford Township Police Department.

Wearing a yarmulke on his head, Klein said "I've never had a problem here. Waterford is a wonderful community," he said, noting he's worked there since 1988.

Still, Klein said, people need to be aware. "We can't be frightened and terrorized of things," he said. "People must live on and do what they need to do."
