New York, NY - City Considers No-Teen Drinking At Home Law

New York, NY - The city is considering a local law to hold parents responsible for teen drinking in their homes.
The City Counciil's Public Safety Committee is drafting the so-called "Social Host" law.

The law could carry penalties of 350 dollars in fines and anywhere to 15 days to a year in jail -- depending if violating the new law is considered a violation of a misdemeanor.

The Long Beach City Council in Nassau County just approved a similar bill - holding parents responsible for underage drinking in their homes. The law makes it a crime to serve alcohol to minors who are not family members.

"minors that are not family members" that's only in Nassay County, but in this stupid NYC and with this crazy mayor, they want to make the law, even for family members.

In France children grow up drinking wine. I don't hear that the French have any problems with that. I don't think a little kiddush wine or a l'chaim schnapps shpuld be a problem, in moderation of course. If it is in the privacy of one's home and no one gets shikker, then the law needn't find out about it.
