Wallkil, NY - Election Inspector Arrested
Wallkil, NY - An election inspector whose loud complaints about a paperwork error disrupted voting at a Scotchtown polling place was arrested.
Orange County Election Commissioner David Green asked sheriff's deputies to arrest Madeline Gillespie-Schoonmaker, 55, of the Town of Wallkill.
Gillespie was upset that the form poll workers at the Silverlake firehouse polling location were supposed to use to report election results bore the name of another voting precinct.
She was charged with criminal mischief and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors, as well as disorderly conduct, a violation, sheriff's office Chief Richard Onorati said. She was also sent for a mental health evaluation.
