Blooming Grove, NY - Kosher Market Shut Down

Blooming Grove, NY - Town officials and sheriff’s deputies shut down Orange Kosher Market on Route 17M after it failed to comply with repairs ordered by the Blooming Grove town building inspector.

State Supreme Court Justice Lawrence Horowitz directed deputies to help the building inspector lock down the business at 1025 Route 17M. The town has been seeking an injunction to close the market, which it says was built and opened illegally.
Customers, mostly Orthodox Jews, and employees were turned away by Orange County Sheriff’s Capt. Dennis Barry and town Building Inspector Jeanne Ovensen. Those inside the store were allowed to finish their shopping. Many patrons sought answers and weren’t given any.

A sign reading “this building closed to the public by order of the state supreme court” was affixed to sliding doors on the market, and on windows throughout the building.

Goshen lawyer Alan Lipman said the market’s owner has been working to address the code issues. There appear to be several companies which own the building, but it was unclear who owned the market.
“Fundamentally, there’s no doubt there is work that needs be done and (the owner) is in the process of doing that,” Lipman said.

The controversy began late last year, when the two-story building that houses the market was under construction. A stop-work order was issued Sept. 22. Construction continued despite the order. The latest issue is with the building’s septic, which has been seeping in the parking lot, sources said.

Ovensen refused to answer questions regarding what issues the owner failed to fix and said: “It’s a court order. I’m here to enforce it. That’s all I’m saying.”

After the patrons vacated the store and officials left the property, the door continued to slide open and closed.

the best way to explain such a fight is that he (schnitzler) is dealing with a anti-semitic town like blooming grove witch start the whole "KIEN YIFROTZ" batel, and that's the MAIN risen for closeing such a big & great supermarket.

This guy Meilach Moshe Shnitzler who decided to open up a huge market but thought that he is in Kiryas Joel where the building and zoning codes are much more lax and he miscalculated that the blooming grove guys are a bunch of anti-semites who are not interested in helping out a Jew, only the opposite Blooming grove is openly saying that they don't want any Jews there, they created a village just for that reason so they can block Jews from living or opening up shop there, its about time that Jews all over the metropolitan area wake up and organize to stop these bigots, STOP THE BIGOTRY

Raboisi I think it is time to get a grip on life. I understand R' Meilach Moshe wants to make parnoose, but why does it have to be with chillul Hashem? Why can't he build and do business in a Kosher way? The same personality that will build in a non-Kosher way could easilly sell non-Kosher things. It's the same mentality. Let's just do things the right way!

The supermarket is very close to the village of Kiryas Yoel, not walking distance for most of the women but a 2 minute drive. There are a lot of not frum yidden who live in the area who would shop kosher but most feel uncomfortable shopping in Kiryas Yoel for many reasons. He is targeting two groups of customers. The huge amount of non-chassidic (not so many) or non-frum yidden (a lot) who wouldnt or would rather not come into KJ to shop. and he is also targeting the community of Kiryas Yoel by generaly having cheaper prices on everything. KJ stores are very expensive and he charges less.

JUDGING BY THE ATROCIOUS SPELLING AND GRAMMAR USED OIN SOME OF THESE POSTS, I WOULD VENTURE TO SAY THAT THE 'STOP-WORK ORDER' COULD NOT BE READ &/OR UNDERSTOOD. GUYS, WE LIVE IN THIS 'MALCHUS SHEL CHESED', WHY IS IT SUCH AN 'AVLUH' TO KNOW ITS LANGUAGE? OUR PARENTS IN POLAND AND HUNGARY SPOKE AND WROTE THOSE LAGUAGES FLUENTLY! (and they were not considered 'oysvurfs' for it)

I find it saddening, how may self-hating Jews post on this site... Always looking to say bad about the Jew or Chassid, and always defending the anti-semites.

The wost part of the self-hating, is they blame Jews for causing anti-semitism.

The most "highly cultered" and assimilated Jews were in Germany; did the Germans hate Jews less because of it?

Did they spare the "highly cultered" assimilated Jews because they spoke a fluent German and followed German culture? NO!

As a matter of fact, the "highly cultured" Jews caused the most anti-semitism, because they were perceived as the threat to the German people.

When we start acting like the Goyim, they perceive us as a threat.

So all you self-hating bored souls I have some advice... GET A LIFE!

Considering the number of Yiddin would build in Brooklyn without any permits, and ignore stop work orders, maybe the owner thought that he could do the same in the hamlet of Blooming Grove.

    D. Schreiber @ 11:34, You virtually took the words out of my mouth, (nisht Mamesh)

You couldn't have said it better, it's disgusting to see people(not to mention, most hatred comments, came of people who can't even spell, meaning they're Heimish/Chassidem) being so vicious to our own brothers!

But they'll always understand & be "Dan L'kaf Zchis" those narrow minded Anti-Semites!

"Unbelievable" (how sick can people become?)
