Tatar, Russia - Arrest Made on Jewish Cemetery Desecration
Tatar, Russia - Police in northwest Russia have arrested six members of an ultranationalist organization for involvement in desecrating Jewish cemeteries earlier this month, as was reported on VOS IZ NEIAS.
The detainees, affiliated with the extremist Russian National Unity group, are believed to have destroyed more than 100 graveyards, and scattered leaflets with racist content in the cemeteries in Tver, about 100 miles northwest of Moscow.
They face charges of inciting racial and religious hatred.
A ministry spokesman said the suspects, all aged under 26, have admitted to taking part in the cemetery desecration, and that the group's leader has also "confessed to committing two murders and several violent attacks."
