Washington, DC - FBI Considering New Program to Reduce Gun Violence

Washington, DC - The FBI is considering funding a nationwide program to install a technology that will help reduce gun violence in every major US city.

Its called a Shotspotter - a network of noise sensors - The Shotspotter can apparently identify and pinpoint gunfire and send an alarm to the local police station. This will allow police to respond more quickly when the inevitable happens.
But it is unlikely to save the lives of any of the tens of thousands of people who die as a result of gun violence in the US every year.

Police forces in a dozen or more cities, including Chicago and Los Angeles, are installing Shotspotter sensors on some of their meaner streets.

Try the system and see if it works. It probably can't hurt. But the BEST way to curb gun violence is for voters (THERE'S AN ELECTION COMING UP IN A WEEK) to get rid of the bleeding heart liberals in the State Legislature and toughen up the state violent crime laws with longer sentences for repeat felons. Violent recidivist criminals commit much of the gun violence, so keeping them in jail for longer periods (i.e., keeping them OFF the streets) will lead to a downturn.

And NY should do what most of the other states in this country have done -- combine tougher laws against the actual USE of guns in a crime with looser permit laws, so that law-abiding citizens do not have to be disarmed and at the mercy of armed menaces who DO NOT OBEY the "gun control" laws already on the books. Virtually every place where this has been tried, crime has gone DOWN -- because criminals who aren't afraid of getting caught or going to jail (most of them have been tere before and can do the time standing on their heads) ARE afraid of getting shot.

Instead, politicians like Bloomberg treat the law-abiding citizens of this city as if they are potential trigger-happy vigilante idiots -- even though there has been no sudden trend of Charles Bronson-style vigilante shootings in places where the permit rules have been loosened (believe me, if there had been, the Liberal Media would have told us about it -- and told us about it, and Told Us About It and TOLD US ABOUT IT).

He who is merciful to the cruel will end up being cruel to the merciful and the innocent.
