Jerusalem, Israel - Thousands of Haredim Hold Rally

Jerusalem, Israel - Thousands of ultra-Orthodox are holding a demonstration in Jerusalem this evening in protest of the planned parade , which is scheduled to take place in the city next Friday.

The rally marks the third straight day in which Jerusalem haredim are protesting against the parade. Ultra-Orthodox began to hurl stones from Tzfania Street toward the Bar-Ilan Road and set garbage cans ablaze. One police officer was hurt when a stone struck him in the head; he was evacuated to a nearby hospital in light to moderate condition.
Jerusalem police detained 16 haredim for questioning, under suspicion for rioting and throwing stones. During the protest, demonstrators threw metal bars, tear gas, stones and eggs.
A police officer was injured in his face from an unidentified burning agent thrown on him by haredi protesters. He is being treated at the scene.

It should be noted that there were much more than 16 arrests there were somewhere between 50-100 (the secular media doesn't report it or the police did not report it) and many people were beaten up for no reason I have a friend whose son was laying in his Dira when suddenly police burst in and started beating him on his chest they ripped his shirt, Tztitzis, and undershirt. They then proceeded to hold his hands behind his back, and started punching him his head, then they held him by his neck and slammed him repeatedly against a brick wall. All this was done without the boy even trying to resist, finally they arrested him. One soldier who witnessed the whole incident went out of his way and accompanied him to the police station were he vouched for his innocence; he was released about 4 hours later!! (at the police station he saw dozens other who were arrested) Can we be quiet? Can we be silent? And this is just one of the many such stories
