Long Island, NY - Jewelry Store Jilts Customers
Long Island, NY - A Long Island jewelry store has abruptly closed its doors - leaving behind a $100,000 lawsuit and angry customers and suppliers who claim the owner still has their gems.
One customer - who dropped off a new $4,800 watch simply to have a few links removed from the band - was stunned to find the store closed just over a week ago, with all the display jewelry gone and a hastily scribbled sign that read: "Closed for inventory."
Jordan Cohen, 22, of Dix Hills, shuttered his King Richard Jewelers in the Green Acres Shopping Center in Valley Stream in a midnight move that also shocked the landlord.
A supplier has already sued Cohen for $100,000, claiming he failed to return or pay for diamonds, rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings that were advanced on consignment.
