NYS - DMV Inspection Policy Changes For 2006
NYS - The Department of Motor Vehicles is implementing a new policy that will eliminate the month-long cushion vehicle owners have had when it comes to getting their cars inspected.
Under the new policy, vehicles will have a 10-day time period for getting the vehicle inspected in the month that the inspection sticker expires.
The old policy allowed motorists to take the entire month to get an inspection done.
DMV officials say they're making the change so garages and other businesses that inspect vehicles aren't faced with a last-minute rush at the end of each month.
Driving with an expired inspection sticker could result in fines of $75 or more.
