New York - House Homeland Security Chairman Warns Rockland-Orange Region To Remain Alert

New York - House of Representatives Homeland Security Chairman met with law enforcement personnel from Orange, Rockland and Putnam counties, and told them that while the region is far better than it was pre-9/11, the police and the pubic must remain vigilant.

The Mid-Hudson Valley needs to keep on its toes beacuse “You are in the line of fire,” he said. Also because of the electric grid, Indian Point nuclear power plants, the US Military Academy at West Point, shopping centers and the large Jewish population.

Police officers at the Rockland-Orange session expressed concern about security of schools, malls and the ability to evacuate people northward should New York City be the target of another, more serious attack.
