Roosevelt - Mayor's Involvement With Yeshiva Plans Reviewed
Roosevelt, NJ - As voters prepare for a Feb. 7 recall election, some people continue to flush out whether there’s proof of potential impropriety and conflict of interest by Mayor Neil Marko's.
Some residents have discussed Neil Marko’s potential conflict of interest as one of the most influential reasons for the recall. Because Marko was serving as the mayor, a Planning Board member, and as a synagogue trustee at a time when a yeshiva decided to open in town.
A branch of Telshe Yeshiva, signed a four-year lease last year with the board of trustees of Congregation Anshei Roosevelt. Yeshiva Me’on Hatorah has since implemented an Orthodox Jewish day school for high-school-age boys in the Homestead Lane synagogue.
