Monsey, NY +Buses Getting Help From Homeland Security+

Rockland County, NY - Monsey Trails, which operates 30 buses daily between Rockland, Manhattan and Brooklyn, said the company will be putting in a GPS system on their busses, and expected to do so in the next year or two.
A Department of Homeland Security grant is helping to pay for the new system. The federal funds were offered to all bus companies in the nation so they would be able to track their buses if they were hijacked by terrorists.

With this new GPS system, a driver can send 10 pre-programmed messages, letting dispatchers know that the bus has been in an accident, a passenger needs medical help, or that the bus was hijacked by terrorists.

Four of the five major bus companies serving Rockland are already equipped with GPS technology.
