New York - D'Amato Is Hailing Spitzer As Next Governor At Dov Hikind Political Event

New York - Former Republican Sen. Al D'Amato all but endorsed the Democratic gubernatorial front-runner as the "next governor" at a crowded political event for state Assemblyman Dov Hikind, where elected officials on hand included Mayor Bloomberg, Sen. Charles Schumer and City Comptroller William Thompson, were there.

D'Amato, who now has a thriving lobbying practice, has for months been praising Eliot Spitzer, the state attorney general. D'Amato spoke, praising the job Spitzer has done as attorney general, "D'Amato said [Spitzer] 'will be the next governor,' " and he predicted Spitzer will be "a great governor."
