Salem, MA - A Lynn man pleaded guilty to civil rights violations and destruction of property for spray-painting swastikas around Salem Common.

Richard Card, 19, was sentenced to one year in jail, of which he will serve 90 days with 2 1/2 years' probation, for spraying graffiti on private homes, garages, a statue, and a monument on March 13, the Essex district attorney's office said.
Card also must write letters of apology to the city and his victims, pay the city $550, pay an amount still to be determined to his victims, complete high school or get a GED, and complete an educational program at Holocaust Center of the North Shore, said the DA's office.
Cases against codefendants Christopher Clarke, 19, of Lynn and a Salem juvenile are pending, according to authorities.
