Brooklyn, NY - Diamond Dealer Sentenced
Brooklyn, NY - The Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that Reuven Isakov, 42, of Brooklyn, was sentenced from two years and 10 months to 8½ years for Grand Larceny in the Second Degree and to one and a third to four years for Scheme to Defraud in the First Degree for stealing diamonds valued at approximately 1.4 million dollars, the sentences are to be served concurrently.
In a four and a half month period, between August 11, 2004 and December 31, 2004, Isakov, who operated a wholesale diamond dealership Concord Diamonds & Jewelry, Inc. at 34 South Broadway in White Plains, defrauded 41 diamond dealers from around the United States.
Isakov would take diamonds on consignment and then pay the dealers with bad checks, not pay them at all or never return the gems. As part of his sentence, 41 judgment orders were issued totaling $1.4 million.
