Brussels, Belgium - European Parliamentarians Seek EU Travel Ban On Iranian President
Brussels, Belgium - A group of European Parliament members is seeking an indefinite EU travel ban on Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the light of his calls for Israel's destruction and his questioning of the Holocaust.
A group of 75 deputies from all major political groups in the EU assembly have signed a petition sent to Austria, which holds the EU's rotating presidency.
A travel ban can only be declared by individual EU member states, which is unlikely to happen given the fact that world powers, including Britain, France and Germany, are debating how to resolve the Iran nuclear crisis.
