Monroe, NY - Mixed Reaction For New Rules At Smith Clove Park
Monroe, NY - For many years, people from Monroe, Central Valley, Highland Mills, Harriman, Blooming Grove and other nearby communities have frequented Smith Clove Park. But the photo identification system which began June 1 restricts use of the park to those who live in Monroe.
While the policy is meant to cut down on overcrowding and vandalism at the park, many people living in and around Monroe are less than thrilled about the new rule.
But one Monroe resident, who asked that her name not be used, said that the new policy is a step in the right direction because it will help to keep out many of the young people that don’t belong there. She also said that since those who don’t live in Monroe don’t pay taxes to use park, they don’t have the right to be there.

This is great!! I am a Central Valley resident and we have had our own place (parks) for as long as I can remember. I feel every town should have their own parks upkeep their own parks and keep it for their residents only. This way any vandalism will be from their own residents. No blame to lay any where but where it belongs. I am proud of Monroe and I hope they continue this with all their parks to have the same policy. Way to go Monroe
