Goshen, NY - Orange County Taxes Decrease for Third Year
Goshen, NY - Orange County government’s tax rate in 2007 will be reduced again – the third year in a row – and it will be the lowest rate since World War II.
County Executive Edward Diana released his proposed county spending plan of $629.9 million, up five percent from the 2006 budget of $543 million. This is the first year that he had to include that portion of the county sales tax that is shared with municipalities, adding another $59.6 million to the bottom line.
The property tax, as proposed, would be $2.97 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation. That compares with $14 per thousand back in 1973.
