Monticello, NY - Property Owners Be On The Look Out

Monticello, NY - Some in the area say, they are tired of leaning fences, untamed weeds and broken-down buildings around town. So they dreated a group called "The Watchful Eyes," of business owners in the Village of Monticello and the Town of Thompson, a so called neighborhood watch, who are prodding local governments to toughen building codes, strictly enforce violations and revamp outdated laws.
And they're set to patrol the area, identifying eyesores and trouble spots over the next few weeks. "I certainly am not proud of this community, and I dare anybody to get up and say that they are," said Dr. Marc Hudes, the podiatrist who organized the group, at a meeting in his office. "We've had years and years of noncompliance, lack of code enforcement."

The group has split into two committees, one each for the village and town. In the next few weeks, they'll study the building codes and then begin driving around the area. They'll fill out "eyesore reports" that the village and town have created for citizens.
"Supposedly they will take action on them," they said.

good idea; issue summonses to people for unrentable stores being unatractive.
maybe the village of monticello should work on a reasonable economic redevelopment plan.
they wouldn't want to do that because that would mean acknowledging that their most financially viable market is the frum jews that visit in the summer. they are too busy hating to do anything productive. now they want to issue sumonses. give me a break.

Seems that all his jewish patients deserted Dr. Hudes till next July so he does not have what to do. He makes a meeting in his office to bite the hand that feeds him.AntiSemite

if he was a good doctor he would practice someplace normal, where he would make parnassah.
then he wouldn't need to worry about what the other stores on his street look like.
lots of doctors in brooklyn are on streets that are no more esthetically pleasing than monticello.
    noboday cares.
if a guy is making parnassah who cares where he works (within reason, including basic safety).
he needs to get a real practice, and enjoy the money.

come on, whats wrong with trying to clean up the town a little, it will be a nicer place for everybody. monticello is a depressing place. they have done this in other towns in upstate ny with positive results. ex tannersville and ellenville etc. they should clean up the criminal element next..

nothing is wrong with making monticello nicer.
their approach is devicive and 100% wrong.
build the economy, encourage small business and other development; then they won't need to worry about the appearance so much. it will have fixed itself.
that's a free market economy, and it works.
