Brooklyn, NY - Jewish Leaders Rally in Support of Congressman Towns
Brooklyn, NY - Jewish leaders gathered in the Midwood section of Brooklyn, on Ocean and Avenue "M" to support the re-election campaign of Brooklyn Congressman Ed Towns.
Mr. Towns is a twelve term incumbent in the House of Representatives who represents the Tenth Congressional District of New York, which includes large parts of the Jewish communities in Midwood, Williamsburg and Canarsie. Towns is being challenged by City Councilman Charles Barron and Assemblyman Roger Green.
Mr. Barron a former black panther and controversial figure, gained notoriety by saying at a 2002 reparations rally "I want to go up to the closest white person and say, ‘You can’t understand this, it’s a black thing’ and then slap him, just for my mental health."
At the rally Mr. Towns was flanked by Assemblymembers Dov Hikind and Helene Weinstein and City Councilpersons Michael Nelson and Lew Fidler.
