New York, NY - Housing Agency Sets Millions for Apartments
New York, NY - The New York City Housing Development Corp. approved $135 million in financing to build or preserve 11 buildings in Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens, as part of a plan by Mayor Michael Bloomberg to boost affordable housing in the city.
Most of the $135 million will be used to renovate several apartment buildings that are either occupied, or completely abandoned.
The agency approved $20.6 million to renovate 263 apartments in three senior-citizens buildings in the Crown Heights and Williamsburg sections of Brooklyn. Another $11.2 million will be used to restore three vacant buildings, comprising 111 units, in the Morris Heights section of the Bronx.
