Monsey, NY - An accountant was among 77 other people throughout New York who faced disciplinary action by the state Department of Education.
Accountant Martin Goldstein was fined $5,000 and sentenced to two years of professional probation after he admitted committing professional misconduct, after he pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York to two felony counts of income tax evasion, in a case that was related to a scandal involving former Rockland Democratic Chairman Paul Adler.

Goldstein was sentenced in federal court to one year's probation, including four months of home confinement and a prohibition against working in the field of accounting or tax preparation. Goldstein agreed to the $5,000 fine and probation.
