Vienna, Austria - Holocaust Denier Loses Appeal on Conviction
Vienna, Austria - The highest court in Austria rejected and denied appeal during a closed session, by right-wing British historian David Irving and upheld his conviction for denying the Holocaust.
In February, a state court convicted Irving of denying the Holocaust and sentenced him to three years in prison.
A decision on an appeal of Irving's sentence is still pending. The court convicted Irving under a 1992 law applying to "whoever denies, grossly plays down, approves or tries to excuse . . . National Socialist crimes against humanity" by using the media.
