Newton, MA - Crystal Lake Property Will Not Become A Summer Camp

Newton, MA - The city is negotiating with Crystal Lake property owner Patrick Hannon to purchase his beachfront property, and negotiations with a Jewish organization to make it into a summer camp is over. "I’m getting the hell out of Dodge," Hannon said, saying he is not only offering his property at 20 Rogers St. to the city, but is also selling his nearby home at 21 Floral St. and moving to Maine.
City spokesperson Jeremy Solomon confirmed that Newton officials are in the "preliminary stages" of negotiations with Hannon.

Hannon has been constantly bickering with city officials and neighbors. A few months ago, he tried to sell the property to a Hasidic-Jewish organization that wanted to turn the beachfront into a 200-member summer camp. "It was a cleverly crafted deal and when unraveled, it wasn’t the deal I was looking for," said Hannon in explaining why he ended negotiations.
